North Country Lodge

Packed And Ready To Head North
Coziness made of, and built within, the old growth forest.
Materials of golden colored, white pine logs, stacked upon each other.
Lofts, beams, and nostalgia are the décor.
Large, unobstructed windows allow the outside in.
I am a cabin.
Beyond the cabin, cold water speaks through the rhythmic lapping of the waves.
A liquid trail road; secret bays and hidden drop-offs.
Rock, pine, and sand are the shoreline.
Depths, of various degrees, extend below the silver ceiling.
I am a lake.
Within the lake, a kaleidoscope of wiggling colors, captured best in sunlight.
Protein slime, for speed and protection, makes handling difficult.
Panfish, pike, and perch are the treasures.
Allotments of time, between sunrise and sunset, pass between each catch.
I am a fish.

Besides the fish, hearts beat through fur and feather.
Awareness, heightened by sights and sounds, provides recognition and surprise.
Eagles, loons, and bear revealed.
Discernment is unveiled in soaring shadows, wavering calls, and deep set tracks.
I am wildlife.

In addition to the wildlife, is the synergistic union of the Northland.
Crackling campfire, at the base of birch and maple, provides smoke and s’mores.
Cabins, lakes, and wildlife are one.
Nestled within Wisconsin’s forests, families and memories, intertwine together.
I am a North Country lodge.
